
Behavior Specialist/Autism Consultant
Our Behavior Specialist/Autism Consultant supports students and staff throughout the school environment and supports families in understanding and supporting student behavior. Advice and support is provided to educators and families in the areas of social communication, social/emotional reciprocity and restrictive and/or repetitive patterns of behavior or interests. Knowledge and experience is provided in understanding neurodiversity, regulation, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Additionally, our consultant supports students, educators, administrators and families to address and manage externalizing and internalizing behavioral challenges that interfere with learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with our school teams to develop support plans and safety plans for students
- Assist in data collection and development for Functional Behavioral Assessments and assist in the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) that are tailored to individual student needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support universal, targeted and classroom management strategies and interventions.
- Provide training and coaching to teachers and support staff on behavior management techniques.
- Monitor student progress and adjust intervention plans as needed.
- Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with IEP or 504 Plan goals when applicable.
- Serve as a member of student support teams (e.g., CSE, MTSS, 504).
- and Assist in development and implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans
- Support with Parent Counseling and Training, as outlined on IEPs
- Support with crisis management and behavior management as needed
- Responsible for the development and creation of any materials such as social narratives, visual schedules, or positive reinforcement plans, as needed **I need to word smith this one.
