1. Attention girls interested in playing softball: There is open gym Monday, January 27th from 2:30-4 in Gym A. Make sure you have athletic clothes, sneakers, and your equipment. You are responsible for your own transportation. [email protected] 1/24

2. The Laboratory for Laser Energetics at the University of Rochester is offering their annual summer research program for Rochester-area high school students that will be completing their junior year. This eight-week program provides an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated students to experience scientific research in a realistic environment. Students who are accepted into the program are assigned to a research project and supervised by a staff scientist at the Laboratory and work 40-hour weeks with pay. 3. Attention all LEO club members we need your help for Winterfest this Sunday at Churchville Elementary School especially for the Chicken BBQ. Please arrive by 11:30 to help and dress accordingly. 4. This Saturday, January 25th is Chinese New Year. This year the main zodiac element is metal and the animal sign is rat, so this will be the year of the Metal Rat. The Foreign Language Club has decorated the display case in the LOTE hallway in celebration, check it out as you pass by. 6. The deadline to register for the SAT Prep course is fast approaching. This program will help you prepare for and improve your performance on the upcoming SAT exam. Register online through the Continuing Education website. Deadline is February 2nd- seats are limited. [email protected] 1/29

7. Attention Rotary Club Members and anyone interested in joining Rotary Club, our next meeting will be Tuesday, January 28th after school at 2pm in room 1151. We will plan our spring projects and take a photo for the yearbook. [email protected] 1/28

8. Aloha! Take a break from the January weather and come to CCHS’s Winter Luau dance on January 31 from 7-10 in the NGA commons. Tickets are just $5 and will be sold during lunches from January 28-31. At the dance there will be great music, food, a picture booth and contests to win gift card prizes. 9. The Churchville-Chili Family Learning and Support for Home(FLASH) Team is excited to sponsor an insightful two-session workshop titled “Preventing and Navigating Everyday Crises at Home”. This workshop is aimed at supporting parents/caregivers of Preschool-High School children in preventing and responding to common childhood crises and family conflict. Part 1 will be held on Saturday February 1st and Part 2 will be Saturday February 8th. Free childcare will be provided for children ages 1-12. 10. Juniors do you have a career interest in Imaging and Science such as optics, astronomy, medical imaging and vision science? RIT is looking for highly qualified juniors to work side-by-side with world-class scientists on a variety of research projects this summer. These unpaid internships would give you the chance to be a contributing member of a research team. If you are interested, please stop in the College and Career Center for additional information. 11. The Monroe County Sheriff’s office is looking for students in grades 9-12 to participate in a free teen police academy being held this summer.
