We’re all in this together
Students at Chestnut Ridge School know all about community. They got together recently to learn about the importance of community service and giving back, and to launch several big initiatives.
The school recently held a Global School Play Day that was enjoyed by all the students. So much so, in fact, that they are holding a Game and Puzzle Drive. They hope to spread the fun they experienced to children who don’t normally have access to these toys.
The assembly also launched the annual Heart Challenge, a community service learning program of the American Heart Association. PE teachers Brooke Elnicky and Greg Kincaid introduced the school’s official Heart Hero and this year’s fundraising goal - $20,000! If achieved, CRS will have reached a grand total collected over all years of participation of $260,000. The program emphasizes developing heart-healthy habits and having fun with physical activity. Children learn that their efforts to support research and education can help save lives in their community.
