Dear Churchville-Chili families,
The COVID-19 pandemic required significant action and disruption from our traditional face-to-face instructional model this past spring. We appreciate your partnership in delivering an At-home instructional model utilizing one to one devices and online platform, with the exception of kindergarten. There is a great deal of uncertainty right now as school districts across the state and country begin to prepare for the upcoming school year. We are in the process of creating an advisory committee to assess the following areas related to reopening: health and safety (including social and emotional health), teaching and learning, school operations (including facilities, transportation and nutritional services), and human resources/staffing. The committee membership includes staff, Board of Education members, along with parent representatives coordinated through each school’s PTO.
To assist the advisory subcommittees, we are asking for your input about potential reopening plans for the 2020-21 school year. We are asking parents to complete this reopening survey
to better understand your perspectives and level of concern regarding returning to school this fall.
The information and comments gathered from this survey will be reviewed by our advisory committee to help the district best prepare and develop plans, protocols, and safety measures. Our top priority is the health, safety and welfare of our students, staff and families. We anticipate receiving guidance from the NYS Education Department and Board of Regents, along with the County and State Departments of Health in mid-July. This will allow the advisory committee to align reopening recommendations on July 23.
We will have a page on our website dedicated to reopening and share the findings of the survey, along with committee recommendations. Due to the nature of questions in the survey, it would be helpful if each adult in your family could complete the survey separately by July 8.
We appreciate your input and your continued partnership as we move forward to develop plans to reopen school for our students in September.
