As we prepare to open our schools to all students on Wednesday, Sept. 8, I wanted to be sure you have the following information related to COVID-19 expectations and requirements. We are so excited to welcome all of our students back next week for in-person instruction, five days a week.
All students, staff, and visitors are required to wear masks inside our school buildings and on district transportation, regardless of vaccination status. If a student does not have a mask, one will be provided to them. Students at all grade levels will be given mask breaks throughout the day. If a facemask is refused, parents will be contacted to pick up their child.
We will continue to follow the recommended health and safety practices of:
Frequent hand-washing and hand-sanitizing opportunities;
Maintaining three feet physical distance guideline to the greatest extent possible;
Maintaining sanitation protocols in buildings and buses;
Using mitigation to assist with safety (barriers as needed in classrooms and other instructional environments, cohorting, seating charts, front facing furniture arrangements when practicable, etc.); and
Masking is a choice for outdoor school-related events and activities.
You will also find our Reopening Plan for 2021-22 on the district website. We will update the Opening of Schools page and Reopening Plan as needed throughout the school year.
All students enrolled at Churchville-Chili will receive free meals through the USDA National School Lunch Program for the duration of the 2021-22 school year.
Transportation: Masking is required on all buses at all times. If a student does not have a mask, one will be provided. If a mask is refused, parents will be called to pick up their child. Windows and roof vents will be opened to assist with air flow. As a reminder for contact tracing purposes, students will only be able to ride the bus to which they are assigned and will not be given passes or permission to ride a friend’s bus.
Parent Portal: All parents and guardians are encouraged to sign up for our Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This portal provides access to grades, attendance, important information about student accounts, and so much more.
While this reopening plan is based upon a recent NYS Department of Health regulation for universal masking at the direction of the Governor, should there be flexibility for our school district to make our own decision based upon local community transmission rates, the board will meet again to review options.
We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to school full time!
