Ninth Grade Academy

Instant Connect Message from Mr. Wilson - 9/9/20

Good afternoon.  Today is September 9.  This is Scott Wilson, Principal of the Churchville-Chili Senior High School with important "need to know" opening day information.

1st – Daily attestations need to be submitted before students enter school.  The primary, most convenient and intuitive way is for parents to load the PikMyKid app on your mobile device. The district is provided a Google Form as a backup if you are unable to download the app.  Additionally, our nurse will be conducting random temperature checks.  Please review material you received in the summer mailing or visit the district website.
2nd – Today, teachers emailed their Google Classrooms invitations and codes to their rostered students.   It is expected for both remote and in-person students to check their school email and join their assigned classes prior to the start of school tomorrow.  Parents and guardians with a valid email address on file may have received invitations to join the classes as well.   This feature will allow parents to view only your son or daughter’s daily activity and progress.
3rd – Parents and guardians interested in providing the district with an updated email address may call 293-1800 extension 2041.
4th – All in-person students should arrive at 7:05 am and move directly to their period 1 classroom.  The only parent drop off location is at door 1 using the Buffalo Road entrance. Students should be masked upon entering, travel on the right side of the hall and maintaining social distancing.   Students will notice social distancing signs, hand sanitizer dispensers in each classroom and additional cleaning supplies to support our hand hygiene routines.
5th – For our students starting out on remote learning, it is expected you joined each of your teacher’s Google Classrooms prior to period 1 tomorrow and log in at 7:15 am.
This will be an historical year demanding increased flexibility, communication and cooperation.  Please check the district website frequently for updates and thank you for your continued support.

About our school

After much research and discussion, the Ninth Grade Academy was created in 2004 to provide the increased structure and support educational research shows our students need in their freshman year to be successful. The Ninth Grade Academy is housed in its own hallway neighborhood, set apart from other grade levels in both the Middle School and Senior High School, and incorporates an instructional model that bridges the middle-level program and traditional high school model. Since the Senior High School and Ninth Grade Academy are adjoined, ninth grade students can easily travel to the Senior High School for special classes such as American Sign Language, advanced science courses, and symphonic band. Our school day  begins at 7:15 a.m. and ends at 1:50 p.m.
