Registration is open in February for incoming kindergarten students. Children must be 5 years old on or before December 1 to be eligible for enrollment in kindergarten in September.
Each spring, our elementary schools host a parent information night to provide parents with information to help prepare their child for kindergarten and share what a day in the life of a kindergartner will look like. Please refer to our Important Dates.
In August, each kindergarten student will visit their school for a kindergarten screening. This screening looks at your child’s development in the areas of language (knowledge of letters, words and problem solving skills), concepts (knowledge of colors, counting) and motor skills (skipping, hopping, cutting, writing).
- Kindergarten screening takes approximately one hour to complete
- Your child will have an opportunity to ride the school bus
- Parents will fill out a questionnaire while the child is being screened
- A letter will be sent later in the fall with a brief summary of screening results
Toward the end of August you will receive information from the school with your child’s teacher and information on the Meet and Greet.
Please visit our UPK & K Parent Resources page for tools to help your kindergartener. We also encourage you to visit your school's website for additional information!
