Fairbanks Road Elementary

Instant Connect Message from Mr. Yunker - 9/15/20

Good morning, this is Principal Todd Yunker calling on Tuesday, September 15, with two important announcements for the families of the Fairbanks Road Elementary School community.

First, on Wednesday, September 16 we will have a “material pick-up time” for the remote only students.  Parents can pull up to the front of the school between 1 and 3 pm and we will have any materials that teachers need to send home available. This is for the full remote only students.

Secondly, I want to review the procedures for the afternoon dismissal process.  By now everyone should have downloaded the PikMyKid app.  Once you arrive at school for dismissal, please click on the announce button.   You will not be able to do that until you are at school.  You will then receive what looks like a ticket with your child’s name and ID number on it on your phone.  Please continue to move forward and stay in the pick-up line.  At some point, a staff member with an IPAD, will stop at the car and ask to see your phone with that on it.  This helps to confirm the appropriate person is picking up your child and the staff member will confirm the child is on the list to be picked up.   Parents can delegate someone else to pick-up their child but they have to do it on their app.

Beginning at 3:10, we will begin announcing students 15 at a time so we can load the cars and have them pull out safely.  Please stay in the line and keep the student car tag on the dash until you leave the school grounds.  A staff member with an IPAD has to click on your child’s name to formally dismiss them.  If we miss that because a car pulled out of line, it delays the rest of the dismissal process. We also have quite a few students who need to go into car seats so folks are out and around the cars.  The safety of all the students, parents and staff members is our number one concern.

With everyone’s cooperation, dismissal will continue to get quicker every day; while keeping everyone safe.

It is great to have students back to school and we greatly appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through all new procedures in and out of the classroom.  Together, we will ensure your children have a wonderful year!
