MS Calming Center offers supportive environment

Our Middle School's Calming Center located outside of Mrs. Stefaniak’s Office (#2125) is a dedicated space designed to provide students in grades 5-8 with a safe and supportive environment to regulate their emotions and practice healthy coping strategies. This peaceful retreat offers a variety of tools and resources, including fidgets, affirmations, journaling materials, drawing supplies, timers, cards, and breathing exercises.

To ensure that students utilize the Calming Corner effectively and respectfully, Mrs. Stefaniak will provide training sessions to teach them how to use the space and tools available. Once students demonstrate their understanding and commitment to using the space responsibly, they may be granted permission to visit independently during teacher designated times with a time limit.

Research has shown that calming corners can significantly improve students' social-emotional learning (SEL) and academic performance. By providing a safe and supportive environment for emotional regulation, calming corners can help students reduce stress, improve focus, and enhance their overall well-being.

Contact Mrs. Stefaniak (x1509) directly if you have students who you think would benefit from the use of this Calming Center!
