Deputy Liaison

We would like to thank the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) for creating and funding a part-time, deputy liaison position to provide instructional lessons to students, similar to the D.A.R.E. program in previous years.

Our designated liaison, Deputy Fantanza, will provide educational support and teach lessons to students across the district this spring focused upon specific, grade-level student needs aligned with district curriculum.

Initially, Deputy Fantanza will work with our Office of Instruction, along with our Middle School and Ninth Grade Academy staff, to develop lessons related to our current citizenship work, as well as age appropriate safety awareness.

This position is not a school resource officer (SRO); however, we will continue to have a full-time SRO, Deputy Goettel, on-site daily in partnership with the MCSO.

Internet Safety

The internet and technology can be very valuable tools that generate positive opportunities. However, they can also create risks because many teens do not know how to properly use them. We strongly encourage families to set clear guidelines and boundaries for safe internet use.

E-Cigarettes & Vaping

The use of e-cigarettes and vaping is unsafe for kids, teenagers and young adults. Most contain nicotine, a highly addictive addictive that can can harm adolescent brain development. E-cigarettes can contain other harmful substances besides nicotine. Studies have shown that young people who use e-cigarettes may be more likely to smoke cigarettes in the future. Bullying

"Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Both the kids who are bullied and those who bully others may have serious, lasting problems.

Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally and excluding someone from a group on purpose. " - Stopbullying.gov
