Community Forum

This forum is intended to provide a site for community members to discuss topics that are relevant to our school community. It is facilitated by the FLASH (Family Learning and Supports for Home) Network steering committee. Our mission it is to provide learning opportunities and resources to parents and caregivers of Churchville-Chili students that will enhance students' educational and life experiences.

Forum rules (copy & pasted from the QuickSpout Forum)
1.      Please don’t make it one big advertisement.
2.      All posts MUST stay on the thread or category topic.
3.      All responses/threads that are nothing but a ‘test’ or an ‘ad’ will be deleted.
4.      If you link out randomly to your own site when it’s not relevant, the thread or post will be deleted. If the links are relevant to the thread, that’s fine. Please use your best judgment here.
5.      Be respectful of other people’s opinions and ideas. It’s okay to disagree and have different opinions, but present your case tactfully. This is a community.
6.      Please don’t use affiliate links in this forum. When you externally link, do it because you want to help someone, not because you see a quick opportunity to make some cash.
7.      Try to add value when you post. Don’t just type something along the lines of “What they said.”
8.      Use proper grammar to the best of your ability. We understand that English may not be everyone’s main language, but make an attempt. You won’t get in trouble for a misplaced comma or for typos, but it would help everyone if you could make sure everyone understands your message.
9.      No adult material. Be mindful that there may be users who are a lot younger than you.

Viewing of "Screenagers"
Posted 12/6/2018 at 2:37:19 PM by Amanda Puleo [staff member]
The FLASH Network hosted a viewing of the documentary "Screenagers" on December 6, 2018. If you attended the viewing, we would like your responses to one or more of the following questions:

1. What scenes or moments in the film stand out in your mind as significant? Why?
2. What did you learn from this film?
3. If you could ask anyone in the film a question, whom would you choose and what would you ask him or her?

In addition, are there other opportunities or offerings you would like to recommend to the FLASH committee?

I agree with your points. I was also not fully aware of the actual medical effects on the brain. I was wondering if the rehab facility that was depicted is a one of a kind facility or if others exist.

1. The mother that was the doctor emphasizing that parents have to be role models with technology if we expect our kids to have rules and boundaries. 2. Learned a ton. Overstimulation permanently damages brain cells, everytime a text or phone notification comes through your reward system pathway is flooded with dopamine. 3. I'd like to know why the doctor mother made a big deal out of giving her 12 yo daughter an iPhone? I'd think you'd want to downplay it, not celebrate it.
