What is the Kindergarten Screening and how will the information be used?
This screening looks at your child’s development in the areas of language (knowledge of letters, words, and problem solving skills), concepts (knowledge of colors, counting), and motor skills (skipping, hopping, cutting, writing).
- Takes about 1 hour to complete
- Your child will have an opportunity to ride the school bus
- Parents will fill out a questionnaire while the child is being screened
- A letter will be sent later in the fall with a brief summary of screening results
The screening is meant to give us some baseline information about your child. This will help your child’s teacher plan instruction to facilitate a successful beginning of kindergarten.
