Counselor's Corner

Sarah Cline
Welcome family and friends of Churchville Elementary School!  You've found your way to the school counselor's corner- a site that will hopefully provide you with some useful information about the counseling program at CES as well as some valuable resources for supporting our wonderful CES kids.

My name is Mrs. Cline, and I am the school counselor at Churchville Elementary School.  I am from Alfred, NY and I now live in Chili.  I attended Slippery Rock University near Pittsburgh, PA and received my Bachelors of Science in Psychology in 2011.  From there I moved on to Roberts Wesleyan College and graduated with a Masters of Science and Certificate of Advanced Study in school counseling.  I am so happy and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a fantastic school district, and I love my home at CES!

Want to know why I chose to pursue school counseling?

The Holistic Approach -  School counseling provides the opportunity to touch many different areas of a child's life.  Through our work, we can impact more than just the academic needs of students, but their social and emotional needs as well.  I believe that in order to be successful, students need support in all of these areas.

Working with Students -  I love how creative young children are! I also love that I am able to offer students a place where they feel safe and will be heard. I have a variety of toys, games, and art supplies so students can express their concerns and feelings in many different ways!

Running Groups - I love facilitating groups. It is so cool to watch the group change over time and to see students helping other students.

Providing Classroom Lessons - I love going into the classroom to provide lessons.  Facilitating classroom lessons allows me to connect with students I may not get to see in counseling!  Being visible in the school makes students more comfortable with coming to see me.

Unpredictability - I love the unpredictability of my day. The school day may be completely different than you originally planned.  Sometimes this poses a challenge, but it keeps me on my toes!

I hope you enjoy exploring the rest of the CES Counselor's Corner!  On the subpages you will find information about the type of services offered here in school, books that are helpful for facilitating meaningful conversations with children, community resources, and so on. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns!
