Meet the Counselor

Hi! My name is David Santangelo. I am the School Counselor at Fairbanks Road Elementary School.

A little of my history:

I was born and raised in Spencerport, NY and I am a graduate of Aquinas Institute. I earned a B.A. in Business Communication and a Masters of Education in School Counseling at SUNY Brockport.

 I  began my School Counseling career in January of 1995 at FRS, and I have been here ever since.  My hobbies include:

Classic car restoration, playing the guitar, NFL football, and running.

When I am not talking with students at FRS, I enjoy spending time with my wife Lori, my daughters Maddie and Morgan and our dog Princess. 

As the Fairbanks Road School Counselor, I work closely with the entire school community including students, families, teachers, administrators, and community agencies.

My work is guided by Churchville-Chili’s Standards-Based Curriculum for Elementary, Middle, and High School Counseling. This curriculum addresses academic, career, and personal/social development across all grade levels. The curriculum was designed to align Churchville-Chili's mission with New York State Standards, as well as the standards of the American School Counselor Association.

A large majority of my work also includes working with students individually and in groups on such topics as friendship,bullying,appreciating differences, anger management, understanding and developing social skills, worries/fears, change/loss and learning how to problem solve.
